Part-Time Instructional Aide

Southern Prairie Schoolhouse is a growing rural microschool focused on personalized education, life skills, hands-on learning, and building meaningful relationships with students and families. We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and adaptable Part-Time Instructional Aide to join our one-room schoolhouse environment. This position is ideal for someone who loves working with children, thrives in a flexible and creative learning atmosphere, and enjoys helping students grow academically and personally.

Position Responsibilities:

•Assist lead teachers with daily classroom instruction across multiple grade levels

•Help supervise and guide students during independent and small-group learning

•Support students with curriculum, assignments, organization, and classroom activities

•Assist with hands-on projects, life skills activities, gardening, cooking, outdoor learning, and field trips

•Maintain a positive, safe, and encouraging learning environment

•Help with classroom organization, light cleaning, and daily operational tasks

•Communicate professionally with staff, students, and parents

•Adapt to the unique needs of a mixed-age microschool setting

Qualifications:

•Prior teaching, tutoring, childcare, homeschool, or instructional experience required

•Comfortable working with children of varying ages and learning levels

•Strong communication and organizational skills

•Patient, dependable, flexible, and self-motivated

•Ability to multitask and work independently

•Must align with the family-centered and hands-on philosophy of Southern Prairie Schoolhouse

•High school diploma required

•Teaching certification is recommended but not required

Background check is required prior to employment

Preferred Qualities:

•Experience in microschooling, homeschooling, or alternative education

•Creative and hands-on teaching style

•Comfortable assisting with outdoor activities and experiential learning

•Interest in agriculture, gardening, life skills, entrepreneurship, art, or home economics is a plus
